New Calls for 2024 in the framework of the cooperation between N.E.C.C.A. and HFRI

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI), after the successful cooperation with the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (N.E.C.C.A.), published the 2nd Call for «Actions to protect, conserve and promote biodiversity. Field studies of endemic, endangered and nationally important species of Greece» and the Call for N.E.C.C.A. scholarships for PhD thesis on the “Study of the taxonomy of groups of organisms distributed mainly in the Greek territory.”

The 2nd Call under the title “Actions to protect, conserve and promote biodiversity. Field studies of endemic, endangered and nationally important species of Greece,” aims to support the implementation of targeted field studies with Principal Investigators with a PhD degree in Biology, Agriculture, Forestry or a related scientific field, with scientific experience in the assessment of extinction risk, conservation, management and protection of endemic and endangered species in Greece. The proposed studies may be stand-alone or implemented within the framework of existing research projects on endemic, endangered and nationally important species.

Interested potential beneficiaries may submit their Proposal exclusively in one of the following fields/subfields, as determined by N.E.C.C.A.:

The total budget for the Call is 462.000€, and the duration of the proposed study may vary from 6 to 12 months.

The collaboration of the two organizations is extended with the publication of the N.E.C.C.A. Scholarship Call for the preparation of a PhD thesis on the investigation of the taxonomy of groups of organisms distributed mainly in the Greek territory. This Call aims to award up to five Scholarships to PhD Candidates to prepare a Dissertation on the investigation of the taxonomy of groups of organisms distributed mainly in the Greek territory, using methods that may include genetic, genomic, morphological and/or a combination of the previous approaches.

Interested potential beneficiaries may submit their Proposal exclusively in one of the following fields/subfields, as determined by N.E.C.C.A.:

The total cost of the Call for Scholarships amounts to 262.500,00€, and the scholarship duration can range from 24 to 36 months, regardless of the appointment date of the Three-Member Advisory Committee.
